The Chassis Paint Shop is a critical stage in automotive manufacturing where chassis panels undergo precise robotic painting to ensure a high-quality finish. Efficient monitoring of these robots is essential to maintain smooth production flow, safety, and process quality. This Kaizen initiative focuses on enhancing robot tracking and monitoring in remote locations within the paint shop, improving operational transparency and response times.
Problem Description:
In the Chassis Paint Shop, typically, robots are deployed to operate and paint chassis panels. However, there was no real-time line tracking or operational status indication of the robots because of remote working of Chassis Panel Maintenance Team. This lack of visibility leads to delayed responses in addressing robot malfunctions or stoppages, impacting production efficiency and safety oversight.
Solution:
To address this challenge, an indicator lamp system was installed and interlocked with robot controls. When the robot runs normally, the lamp shows a green signal indicating smooth operation. If the robot stops or encounters an issue, the lamp glows red, providing immediate visual feedback. This simple yet effective solution enables remote teams and operators to easily monitor robot’s status and responds promptly.
